Manfrotto has released a new mid-level tripod, the 190, with a centre column can be quickly and easily swung from vertical to horizontal without any disassembly.

Manfrotto is targetting the new 190 at enthusiasts. It makes the switch from vertical to horizontal orientation of the centre column even easier. By extending the column to its highest vertical position, it can be swung over to horizontal like a boom without removing the head or disassembling the column itself. The ergonomics of the leg-angle release mechanism and the quick action leg locks have also been improved.
It has a new ‘Quick Power Lock’ (QPL) system which enables complete extension of the legs using just one hand.
An ‘Easy Link’ attachment enables accessories such as LED lighting to be attached quickly through arms and brackets – transforming the tripod into a base for a mobile phootgrahic studio, according to Manfrotto.
The patented Rotating Levelling Bubble is quick to set up and allows to you to position the tripod more precisely. The new Leg Angle Selectors are also easy to set up and won’t trap fingertips.
Two rubber legwarmers are available (for the aluminium version only) to prevent extremes of heat and cold whatever the ambient temperature.
It’s suitable for camera and lens combinations weighing up to 7 kilograms. The new 190 is available in aluminium and carbon fibre versions, with RRPs from local distributor Adeal starting at $399.99 (inc GST) for the 3-section aluminium version.
